Application for funding

The foundation finances individual events, publicity campaigns, research projects etc. The targets for funding can also form part of a bigger communication venture.

Funded projects may be aimed at school pupils, adults or other key target groups either in Finland or abroad. Projects can be local, national or focussed on a particular geographical area.

The methods employed by projects financed by the foundation to influence their given target group can range from technical knowledge to cultural issues. The fundamental goal, however, is that the project to be financed realises the objectives of the foundation, i.e., to promote the increased use and acceptance of wood and wood-based products.

The application can be drawn up in free-form.

The application must, however, include the following:

  • grounds for the application for funding
  • a named project manager
  • the target group for the project
  • how the project aims to promote the objectives of the foundation
  • estimated duration of the project
  • size of the grant applied for
  • general plan of expenditure of the grant
  • details of any other funding received by the project
  • details of any pending grant applications from elsewhere
  • details of any grants previously awarded by the foundation to the applicant.

The grant recipient shall produce a written report for the Finnish Forest Foundation on the results of the use of the grant once the project has reached completion and, if necessary, shall report on the progress of the project to the Board of Directors of the foundation. The written report shall demonstrate how the key objectives appointed by the foundation were met by the project. A secondary report on the use of the grant must be included with the written report.

The report on the use of the grant must include the following points:

  1. Details of the project in question
  2. Implementers
    1. project manager (name, address, tel.)
    2. other participants in the project (name)
  3. Size of grant (euros)
    1. salaries, remunerations
    2. travel expenses, daily expense allowances
    3. devices and equipment
    4. external services
    5. printing
    6. other
    7. total

Receipts are not required to be included in the report: however, the grantor reserves the right to check any receipts upon demand.

New funding cannot be granted to petitioners if a report(s) to the foundation regarding any previously completed project remains outstanding.

The final decision concerning the granting of funding shall be taken by the Board of Directors of the foundation. The application must be delivered to the office of the Finnish Forest Foundation two weeks in advance of the meeting of the Board of Directors of the foundation. The decision concerning granting of funding for small, typically local events and projects can be taken by the executive director of the foundation.
